5 Possible Investments You Can Do Now

What is an investment?

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”

Benjamin Franklin

So, invest in yourself. Not just yourself. It is always best to invest in many things such as a relationship, friendships, business partners etc. but yourself is the most important. So how can you invest in yourself, especially if this is a new area to you? Here’s how.

1. You spend your life how you spend your time

Time is your most valuable asset. Do not spend it procrastinating or that is what your life will become. A series of what could have been instead a series of what have been. William Penn stated, “Time is what we want most, but what we use worst”. Do not talk about what you should be doing, just do it.

2. Ikigai

Ikigai (pronounced “eye-ka-guy”) is a way to discover your own reasons for living. “A reason for being”. The balance between the practical and the spiritual. This balance is found at the crossroads where your passions and talents meet with the things that the world needs and is willing to pay for. Ikigai is about finding happiness, a feeling of fulfilment, and balance in the daily routine of life. Everything is connected. However, this means nothing unless you execute the passion, mission, profession and vocation.

3. Self Identity — Self Acceptance

“To find the good life you must become yourself.”

Bill Jackson

Remember, the stories you tell yourself are to establish your self-identity. So, you must make sure these stories are worthy of you. Look at things in a more positive way and once you have your self-identity, you need to accept it. Self-acceptance allows to stop inner turmoil or battles with yourself. It is you and what you have. Do not try to be anyone else.

“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”

Marilyn Monroe

Utilise it the best you can. You have two choices; you can either give up or give it all you have.

4. Question Everything

“The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself…the more you learn, the more you’ll earn”

Warren Buffett

Never assume you know everything or you have no need to learn. “Every day is a school day” I tell my daughter and the students in my class. Keep questioning everything that is put in front of you. Do not just accept what others say or what you read (heaven forbid) on the internet. Even if they turn out to be correct, or you eventually agree with them, still question it. In doing so, you are rounding your opinion, finding all sides and opinions and therefore providing you with a thorough view. Do not waste a moment or you will have killed it. It has gone.

5. Take Responsibility

“It is only when you take responsibility for your life that you discover how powerful you truly are”.

Allanah Hunt

Every achievement starts with you trying. You have to invest in yourself and then achievement will follow. Take responsibility for the path of your own life or someone (whether it be a partner or competitor) will pick your destiny. Once you take responsibility for your own life and start investing in yourself you will have created your own definition of success, which will ultimately be much easier to achieve.

In Conclusion

  1. How you spend your time is how you spend your life
  2. Discover your reason for being
  3. Self-acceptance
  4. Never stop asking questions
  5. Take responsibility for your path

Not always easy to do, but like going to the gym, the hardest part is actually starting. Once you’re underway, it is so much easier.

Every day’s a school day.
